Tomislav Jorge Goic Utrovicich

Born in Puerto Natales on the 3rd January 1952 Tomislav is descended from a family of pioneers who arrived from Europe in search of a better future. He studied at the Salesian College in Puerto Natales before finishing his schooling in Punta Arenas. He then continued on to higher education attending the Alberghiero Stresa Institute in Italy where he studied Hotel Management before completing his professional practice in Montreux, Switzerland.

Subsequently, he worked in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, the USA and lastly Canada where he lived for more than 10 years, and where the first two of his three children were born; Dania and Daneska Goic Mac Leod who both take after their father in their love of nature.

A guide in Torres del Paine since 1978, he is certified by Sernatur with a Sello Q (a Seal of Quality) as well as being a qualified Wilderness First Responder. He has more than 30 years’ experience as a guide and is extremely knowledgeable about the region.

From an early age he has been associated with both farming and tourism and currently, together with his brother Juan Goic, he is the joint owner of the Laguna Amarga Estancia which is devoted to the conservation and protection of the local fauna, and where they have developed activities such as bird and fauna watching and photography safaris of pumas.
